The ACLU needs a way to educate all Americans on the state of immigration under the Trump government. Postcards were created as a direct mail campaign aimed at highlighting the current treatment of immigrants. To gain attention, the ACLU utilized the nostalgia of old postcards paired with the idea that America was once welcoming and full of opportunities. Ultimately, the ACLU hopes to inspire people to join them in the fight to stop the inhumane treatment of people at the border.
